About me

Hi there! My name is Monica and I’m an Italian artisan pasta maker based in Plainfield, Illinois but born and raised in Italy (to be precise in Modena in the Emilia Romagna region, famous for the finest food). My passion for the art of pasta making started when I was 6 when my mom taught me to make tortellini. Fast-forward a few years I attended many culinary classes with focus on the process of pasta making.

So … how did I get here?

When I was in Italy I’ve been working for many years in the HR field and I always thought that was my path, but life had a different plan for me and I moved to the Chicago suburbs in 2016 where I started my life all over again.

I soon realized that it was the right moment to work on a project that I have always had: teaching how to make pasta from scratch. Why? For two reasons: first of all because my connection with my country is very strong and sharing my culinary passion is a way to show how proud I am to be Italian, the second reason is that making pasta from scratch makes me and who I cook for happy. As simple as that.

Do I miss Italy? Yes, every day and The Pasta Lady is a way to keep home a little closer.
